YOU’RE JUMPING IN!

We can’t wait to learn all about you.

“ANYTHING IN LIFE WORTH HAVING IS WORTH WORKING FOR.”

- ANDREW CARNEGIE

We know that our application process is more thorough than most. It needs to be.

GOALS staff has traveled almost 100,000 river miles with kids just like you/yours. We know the personality & readiness profiles of the kids most likely to personally experience the growth our expeditions are designed to create, while amplifying the experience for the rest of their expedition team. Our objective is to thoughtfully build groups that are even better than the sum of their parts, and our application process helps make that happen.

With space limited by permit availability on some of the world’s most revered wild rivers, the GOALS application process has become somewhat competitive - please follow the instructions below, and submit your application as soon as possible.

The GOALS Application Process:

As soon as you know which expedition(s) you’re interested in, it’s time to get started.

  • STEP 1. Create an account.
One account in the GOALS application / registration system will work for all kids in the same household. It should be created by a parent / guardian using an email address they check regularly, as all correspondence from GOALS will go through the account you create.

  • STEP 2. Complete your application.
Most of the application should be completed by the child applying, with as little direction provided by parents / guardians as possible.
**IMPORTANT**: If you begin the application and leave it, the application may “time out” - and your work will not be saved. Please set aside enough time to complete the application in one sitting.

  • STEP 3. Our system will automatically email your references.
**IMPORTANT**: It is crucial that the email addresses you provide GOALS for your references are accurate. Your application will not be reviewed until both references have replied - and application delays can cause the expedition you are most interested in to fill before your application is considered.

  • STEP 4. Application Review.
Our team will thoroughly review your complete application to determine if there is space on an expedition we feel you are ready for, will have a positive impact on, and will receive the most personal benefit from. Then, if:

    • YOU ARE ACCEPTED ON AN EXPEDITION THAT HAS SPACE AVAILABLE:

      • You’ll get an email from GOALS with information about your expedition placement. This email will include:

        • a link to submit the deposit which secures your spot.

        • a link to submit important registration details we need to keep you safe & comfortable throughout your expedition.

        • information about financial assistance from GOALS and fundraising opportunities before your expedition.

        • a schedule detailing the preparation process between now and your expedition launch.

    • YOU ARE ACCEPTED & PLACED ON AN EXPEDITION THAT IS ALREADY FULL:

      • You will be placed on a wait list, and notified if / when space opens up. No deposit or registration will be collected until space is available.

    • YOU DO NOT RECEIVE AN EXPEDITION PLACEMENT:

      • We do not have the permit capacity to serve everyone who applies annually for our river expeditions. It is our hope that those who do not receive a spot this season will recognize that such a decision indicates either a lack of availability or an improper fit for a specific expedition - and will consider re-applying the following year.
