GOALS Policies

Registration, Payment, Cancellation & Nondiscrimination

Registration.
All interested applicants must complete a GOALS application and provide two references. Only upon review of this application and references resulting in an acceptance by GOALS will an applicant be permitted to register and submit payment.

Payments.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.  We also accept, and encourage, payments through ACH in order to reduce fees incurred by GOALS for credit card processing.

Pricing.
All prices are in U.S. Dollars.  Prices for trips in National Parks units are subject to National Park Service final approval. Prices are valid at the time of printing and may change without notice. You can always find the most current prices on our website or by calling us.

Required Deposit
Our expedition dates and capacities are limited by partnering outfitters and managing agencies.  When GOALS accepts your reservation, we may be turning others away from registering for the same expedition.  As such, a $250 minimum deposit is required to reserve your place on any GOALS expedition.

Cancellations and Refunds.
If you find it necessary to be removed from a GOALS expedition for which you are registered, please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellation penalties can range up to 100% of the trip cost, depending on the date and particular expedition on which you’ve been holding spaces. We regret we cannot make exceptions for personal emergencies.  Our detailed cancellation policy is as follows:

If you need to switch to a different expedition:
Subject to availability, there is no fee to switch to a different GOALS expedition.  GOALS reserves the right to adjust pricing from those advertised in the event that late additions to specific expeditions result in excessive costs incurred by the organization (for flights, etc.)

If you need to cancel, and:
-There are more than 180 days before your expedition: you will receive a refund of all payments made to GOALS toward the expedition you are being removed from, minus a 10% administrative fee.
-There are more than 30-179 days before your expedition: you will receive a refund of all payments made to GOALS that have not been forward to our partnering commercial river outfitters.  If the payment you made to GOALS has been sent to one of our partnering commercial outfitters, that portion of your payment can not be returned.
-There are less than 30 days before your expedition: no credit or refund is available.

If GOALS cancels your expedition for any reason:
You will receive a refund of all payments made, or can forward all payments and your acceptance into a GOALS expedition during the following expedition season.

Participant Selection and Possible Removal.
GOALS reserves the right to review important health and medical information provided during the application / registration process. Weight restrictions may apply, particularly during periods of high water when the probabilities for non-voluntary swims are increased.  More strenuous trips require higher levels of physical fitness.  People who have underlying medical conditions that may jeopardize their ability to complete a multi-day wilderness river expedition should have their physician’s approval before joining a GOALS expedition.  People with disabilities are welcome, pending an advance discussion of all special requirements.

GOALS leaders or professional guides working for the commercial river outfitters with whom GOALS partners have the right to disqualify a participant at any time during the expedition, if she or he feels the guest is physically or mentally incapable of participation or if the guest continuing on the trip will jeopardize the safety of the individual involved or the group.  Refunds are not available under such circumstances.

Forms.
All participants are required to complete their registration forms and sign a standard liability waiver or assumption of risk before the trip, acknowledging awareness and acceptance of some risks associated with adventure travel.

Responsibility.
Payment of your deposit represents your acceptance of the following conditions:  GOALS, its subsidiaries and cooperating agencies act only in the capacity of agents for the participants in all matters relating to transportation and/or all other related travel services, and assume no responsibility for injury, loss or damage to person or property, however caused, in connection with any service, including, but not limited to that resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, detention, annoyance, delays and expenses arising from quarantine, strikes, theft, pilferage, force majeure, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, government restrictions or regulations, and discrepancies or changes in transit over which we have no control. Reasonable changes in itinerary may be made where deemed advisable for the comfort and well-being of the participants, including cancellation due to water fluctuation, insufficient bookings, and other factors. Prices and dates subject to change without notice.

GOALS expeditions occur in areas where unpredictable environmental conditions are to be expected.  To avoid dangerous situations for our participants and guides, it is important that all participants obey the rules and regulations as determined by the managing agencies and the expedition leaders, and demonstrate reasonable consideration for other participants, GOALS leaders, and professional guides.  GOALS reserves the right to remove any participant from an expedition if, in our opinion, that participant’s actions or behaviors pose a threat to the safety of her/himself or others, or if those actions or behaviors compromise the expedition experience and objectives for others.  Should a participant be asked to leave an expedition, there will be no refund for the unused portion, nor will GOALS be responsible for additional expenses incurred by the participant for evacuation, accommodations, return transport, etc.
