FINANCIAL AID

FACILITATING THE MOST IMPACTFUL WILDERNESS EXPERIENCES WITH THE MOST REPUTABLE OUTFITTER PARTNERS Carries a significant COST.

We acknowledge this - and are committed to ensuring that cost does not prevent anyone selected for a GOALS expedition from participating. Since our founding in 2010, GOALS has devoted hundreds of thousands toward financial aid. GOALS views every financial aid award as an investment in the future for kids & wild places.

ELIGIBILITY:

Our financial aid review committee uses the federal poverty level (FPL) guidelines to determine each household’s eligibility and to help define award levels. Additional consideration is given to extenuating circumstances that can be described in our financial aid application.

You can use this calculator and the following chart to estimate your household’s eligibility.

  • 0 - 250% FPL:  Eligible to apply for a 61 - 90% cost reduction.

  • 251 - 550% FPL:  Eligible to apply for a 31 - 60% cost reduction.

  • 551 - 825% FPL: Eligible to apply for a 1 - 30% cost reduction.

  • >825% FPL: Generally not eligible for GOALS financial aid.

Note: GOALS generally does not offer 100% cost reductions - but we don’t want fees to prevent participation. Thus, our team is available to help kids fundraise the remaining (up to) 10% which remains even after a 90% cost reduction - thereby helping them demonstrate commitment and understand the value of their experience.

THE PROCESS:

  1. When completing an application to join an expedition team, every child will be asked if they intend to apply for financial aid. Those who indicate that they will need financial aid will find an application in their account after submitting their application to participate.

  2. Once the child submits their application to participate, a parent/guardian can complete the financial aid application.

  3. Our team will review each child’s application and the input from their references. If selected for an expedition team, we will also inform the family of their financial aid award from GOALS. When the child registers for a program, their aid award will be deducted from their expedition cost.
