Cataract Canyon

Cataract Canyon is everything you’d expect from the Grand Canyon—just in fewer miles. Towering red walls, hidden slot canyons, and epic overlooks set the stage, while the Colorado River shifts from calm, warm stretches to some of the biggest whitewater in the West.

With 100-degree days and 80-degree water, this is a true desert adventure—deep in Canyonlands National Park, where few ever roam. GOALS expeditions through “Cat” take their time, soaking in side hikes, splashy play, and sunsets that ignite the sandstone. Little has changed since Powell’s 1869 journey—but after a few days in Cataract, you just might.

Desolation Canyon

With towering cliffs rivaling the Grand Canyon and over 50 splashy, smile-worthy rapids, Desolation Canyon is the perfect place to fall in love with river life. 

It all begins with a scenic flight into one of the largest wilderness areas in the lower 48—setting the tone for six days of whitewater, wide skies, and wild stories. Along the way, we hike to ancient petroglyphs and outlaw hideouts, paddle past old homesteads, and swap ghost stories under star-filled skies. Deso might not boast the biggest rapids or the tallest walls—but its mix of adventure, history, and pure river magic earns it a top spot in our hearts.

The Rogue River

Designated in 1968 as one of the first rivers protected under the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, the Rogue River earns its status with every bend.

Flowing from Crater Lake to the Pacific, it winds through rich forests alive with wildlife, wildflowers, and blackberries—offering glimpses of history shaped by Native peoples, miners, ranchers, and writers. GOALS expeditions on the Rogue are fueled by curiosity—what’s around the next bend, behind that towering tree, or beneath the crystal-green water? With rapids that are playfully challenging, perfect swimming temps, and golden evening light, this river stirs the brain, inspires the heart, and welcomes the soul.

Main Salmon

Flowing through the heart of the 2.3 million-acre Frank Church Wilderness, the Main Salmon is a wild and welcoming escape. 

Its clear, blue-green water winds past massive sand beaches, towering pines, historic cabins, ancient pictographs, and soothing hot springs—offering a rare blend of adventure and serenity. Rapids range from playful to powerful, and wildlife sightings are part of the daily rhythm. Once known as the “River of No Return,” this stretch now has the opposite effect—because once you experience the magic of the Main, you’ll want to return again and again.

Lodore Canyon

Short on miles but rich in wonder, Lodore Canyon—framed by the towering rock walls known as the Gates of Lodore—delivers the feeling of three trips in one.

As the Green River winds through Lodore, Whirlpool, and Split Mountain Canyons, it unveils a stunning blend of color, geology, and story. Named by explorer John Wesley Powell, rapids like Disaster Falls and Hell’s Half Mile hint at history—but today, this stretch feels more like paradise than peril. The Rio Maranon

A GOALS Maranon experience combines many of the most fascinating lessons in history, culture, and conservation that Peru can tell - all into one experience.

We begin in Cusco - a beautiful city that serves as the gateway to the Sacred Valley. We'll explore Inca ruins, visit small markets, and learn about native textile weaving on small farms throughout the region. We will trek through high passes in the Andes that lead to the famed Incacity of Machu Picchu before returning to Cusco fora flight toward the second part of this expedition -the Rio Maranon.
