With 100-degree days and 80-degree water, this is a true desert adventure—deep in Canyonlands National Park, where few ever roam. GOALS expeditions through “Cat” take their time, soaking in side hikes, splashy play, and sunsets that ignite the sandstone. Little has changed since Powell’s 1869 journey—but after a few days in Cataract, you just might.
It all begins with a scenic flight into one of the largest wilderness areas in the lower 48—setting the tone for six days of whitewater, wide skies, and wild stories. Along the way, we hike to ancient petroglyphs and outlaw hideouts, paddle past old homesteads, and swap ghost stories under star-filled skies. Deso might not boast the biggest rapids or the tallest walls—but its mix of adventure, history, and pure river magic earns it a top spot in our hearts.
Flowing from Crater Lake to the Pacific, it winds through rich forests alive with wildlife, wildflowers, and blackberries—offering glimpses of history shaped by Native peoples, miners, ranchers, and writers. GOALS expeditions on the Rogue are fueled by curiosity—what’s around the next bend, behind that towering tree, or beneath the crystal-green water? With rapids that are playfully challenging, perfect swimming temps, and golden evening light, this river stirs the brain, inspires the heart, and welcomes the soul.
Its clear, blue-green water winds past massive sand beaches, towering pines, historic cabins, ancient pictographs, and soothing hot springs—offering a rare blend of adventure and serenity. Rapids range from playful to powerful, and wildlife sightings are part of the daily rhythm. Once known as the “River of No Return,” this stretch now has the opposite effect—because once you experience the magic of the Main, you’ll want to return again and again.
As the Green River winds through Lodore, Whirlpool, and Split Mountain Canyons, it unveils a stunning blend of color, geology, and story. Named by explorer John Wesley Powell, rapids like Disaster Falls and Hell’s Half Mile hint at history—but today, this stretch feels more like paradise than peril. With time to hike to waterfalls, ancient pictographs, and hidden grottoes—or simply to play, laugh, and float under sun-dappled cliffs—Lodore is where adventure, beauty, and serenity meet.
The Yampa is the last major free-flowing tributary of the Colorado River, offering a truly wild river experience. The canyon's untamed nature and rich history, including evidence of early Native American settlements and the lack of dams, make it a unique and valuable ecosystem.
Warm summer flows and gentle currents invite endless swimming and floating, while quiet hikes lead to petroglyphs, hidden canyons, and glimpses of bighorn sheep, blue herons, and otters. At Black Rocks, billion-year-old formations become a natural playground—perfect for climbing or journaling beneath golden canyon light. Ruby is for those who seek stillness over rapids, and discovery over adrenaline—a peaceful path into the wild.
We begin in Cusco - a beautiful city that serves as the gateway to the Sacred Valley.
